Apple recently released iOS 8.1.2 which didn’t patch the TaiG jailbreak. TaiG released an update that works with firmware 8.1.2. The following devices can be jailbroken on 8.1.2.
- iPhone (6 Plus, 6, 5s, 5c, 5, 4s)
- iPad (2, 3, 4, Air, Air 2, mini 1, mini 2, mini 3)
- iPod touch 5
Below is a tutorial for jailbreaking your device on iOS 8.1.2 using the TaiG application. Unfortunately, TaiG currently only works on Windows, so if you are running Mac OS you will have to run Windows in a virtual machine to jailbreak your device. To begin, download TaiG from our downloads page, restore your device to iOS 8.1.1, and back it up to prevent any data loss. Be sure to disable Find My iPhone and your passcode. Then follow these directions:
1. Connect your iDevice to your computer with the USB cable.
2. Right click the TaiG application and run as administrator.
3. When the application opens and finds your device, locate the second option below the one that says “Cydia”
4. (Optional)Uncheck the second option so that TaiG only installs Cydia.
5. Click the big green button.
6. Done!
