Recently famous hacker Comex, the man behind the jailbreakme.com series of jailbreaks, released an alpha version of his new project, Substitute. Substitute is an open source version of Cydia Substrate, the layer of software in which which most tweaks integrate with while running on your device.
Substitute is planned to be used by the new competing installer iMods, a Cydia rival. Throughout the many years of jailbreaking there have been many installers which only lasted a while before crumbling to the market power Cydia maintains. With Comex at its back iMods may stand a chance to take the crown.
Currently Substitute is in Alpha and not ready for public release.
