Apple Stops Signing iOS 8.1.2 Firmware, Downgrade No Longer Possible

Recently, Apple stopped signing iOS 8.1.2 the last firmware that was exploited by hackers. By closing the singing processes Apple has stopped anyone from downgrading their devices to 8.1.2 from either the current public software version 8.1.3, or the iOS 8.3 beta. As we mentioned in our previous article, the exploits used in PP Ghost / TaiG have been patched in versions above 8.1.2. This means that there is currently no way to jailbreak a device on the most recent firmware 8.1.3.

  • For everyone already with a jailbreak make sure not to upgrade as your jailbreak will be broken and there will be no way to revert to the previous state.
  • For everyone that has or buys a device after today you will have to wait for hacker groups to release a new exploit which could easily take months. That being said the Chinese hacker team responsible for TaiG have been releasing updates faster than we have seen in the last few years.
