Many rumors have popped up about Apple’s new plans to expand into the electric car industry. According to WSJ, Tim Cook has given the orders to assemble a team starting over a year ago. It is also reported that Ford executive Steve Zadesky is leading the project and that 1,000 people are being recruited.
Apple’s biggest competitor will most likely be Tesla, the company formed by Elon Musk known for their two fully electric cars the Roadster and the Model S. Tesla too has high expectations for the future and it will be interesting to see how the two companies cars compete.
While the project is currently early in development WSJ has some vague information on what the car might be like.
Apple has several hundred employees working secretly toward creating an Apple-branded electric vehicle, according to people familiar with the matter. They said the project, code-named “Titan,” has an initial design of a vehicle that resembles a minivan, one of these people said.
