Looking for a date this Valentines Day of the artificial intelligence variety? Maybe hoping for that “Her” experience? Well your iPhone may provide you some form of company, but don’t turn to Siri, for much more than a laugh at least. Unless you want to get rejected, of course. Yup, among the many amusing things you can inquire about, you can also ask Siri to be your Valentine, but she (or he, you can choose the Siri gender) is really not interested in us lowly humans.
This is good for a quick laugh or two, and the more persistent you are, the more awkward Siri gets in the responses. Go ahead and summon Siri and ask “Siri, will you be my Valentine?” and see for yourself. After the first two or three soft rejections, keep asking, Siri starts coming up with some interesting excuses, here’s a variety of the responses you may find:
“Well, this is awkward”
“Oh, that’s sweet, but I, uh, already, um, have plans. Yea. I have plans”
“It’s kind of you to ask, but I’m afraid I can’t”
“I’d love to, but I lack corporeal form”
“I’d love to, but I have a subsequent engagement”
“Thank you for asking, but I don’t really date. Humans.”
Somewhat amusingly, after pestering Siri a good dozen times with the Valentine solicitation, she finally gave me an “OK”, which perhaps proves that persistence pays off, but probably not.
Not your average Siri command, huh? Maybe one day Siri will offer up a date out of the blue to those in the lonely hearts club, maybe… but probably not.
This amusing experience was pointed out by CultofMac, who made a goofy video to accompany the repeated rejections.
